Second-Grade Reading Worksheets

This page includes second-grade worksheets related to reading, rhyming words, and vocabulary. These worksheets are great for classroom or home use, and you may print as many as you like.

Second grade students will continue to build their vocabulary and spelling skills, read chapter books, and will begin to produce their own written stories and reports. They will read fiction and non-fiction pieces designed for their grade level and will have the ability to answer question about each genre.

Writing will become more refined with better spelling and punctuation as well as appropriately using a beginning, middle, and ending to written stories.

It is our hope that the worksheets here will be an extension to the learning that is currently taking place in second grade. These second-grade worksheets are intended to enhance your child's skills and introduce new concepts in a fun, stress-free manner.

Alphabetize Second-Grade Dolch Words - Your students will improve their alphabetizing skills while helping the cute caterpillars alphabetize second-grade Dolch words. Students will alphabetize four words up to the second letter on each caterpillar.

Alphabetical Order - Surely your second-grade student will have fun when they alphabetize the words by placing a number 1, 2, or 3 in front of each word!

Let's Think About the Days of the Week - Students will unscramble the names of the days of the week and print them on the line. Next, they will alphabetize the days of the week and answer questions to reinforce their knowledge of the order in which days fall.
