Your second-grade student will be producing a variety of written pieces such as stories, poems, and simple reports. They will be expected to use proper capitalization and punctuation and write complete sentences.

Provide your child with opportunities to use proper grammar. Encourage them to write stories, keep a journal, and write thank you notes and letters to friends and family.

Although your second-grade child is reading independently, reading aloud on a daily basis enables them to hear proper grammar and build their vocabulary.
